the cs 3000 is the lightest ive had my hands on. chain is very important on this little saw. if its not just rite. it not much. but if it is rite it handles the job ok,and is real smooth. .
my problem is,its hard for me to keep it just rite, depth gauge wise and cutter also....im very slow to fool with the depth gauges on it... a variation in depth gauge will really cause the saw to cut rough... more so than some of the bigger saws.

The saw that Rocky is talking about is the Redmax G2500TS.

I think this saw runs around 6 lb. But has a noba!!s 25cc engine.

The Red Max is probably the lightest but the price is very high. They have come down some but are still high. I believe the larger model Red Max top handle is quite a bit heavier.

The MS200T/020T with a 16" bar is plenty light enough for me to carry and use all day. Echos are lighter, but I ran them before and they don't have the power of the Stihl and never lasted me longer than 6 months. My top handle Stihls will go at least 2-3 years before replacement.

I wouldn't call the Makita a top handle saw. Electrics aren't always all that lite, especially when considering power output.

Little Komatsu

The lightest has to be the komatsu, its tiny, I dont have the weight but a mate says its the best pruning saw he has used as long as you dont try to cut anything bigger than 5 inches.
But theres a good chance that its just a rebranded saw of another company.

I wouldn't mind trying one of the smaller top handled saws, strictly for trims. Trims are what tears my shoulder up, anyway.
Yup. I just might get me a tiny saw. Use my 200 for TDs only!

The Komatsu is the Red Max.
