I have some great looking white oaks, hard maple, white pines and some bitternut hickory that need to be felled this year and wanted to mill the majority of the wood for future use or to sell off.
Was wondering what is the best way to tackle this job.
Should I buy a CSM? or just have it milled at a local mill?
Sounds like it may be just as lucrative to invest in a CSM seeing as there are many wood crafters around here that would probably buy my boards and milling costs may almost outweigh the purchase costs of a new saw and CSM.
Just need some ideas on the pros and cons of such an investment and if any of you have been in this situation.
Thanks,
~Stan

Hi Stan,
If what you want is lumber, have it milled.
If you want a new hobby get a saw and mill.
Dont expect to make much money with a CSM, not that it can't be done, but I can say the same thing about going to the moon, it's just not very likely.
Best of luck!

+1 there is some money there just not when or if you need it! Keep them in log form and custom mill I have found pays best.
