I have been getting a dumpster dropped at the job and having the limbs taken to a wood processing place. its $125 a trip. the rest I take for fire wood. I have a dumpster full of pine limb tips that I really doubt the guy will want. any ideas on where I could take it? does the landfill take it? do they charge the same for it as regular waste? i'd hate to pay to have it removed. its just tree limbs you know. help is appreciated.

I've been looking for used ones. I cant afford a $15,000 chipper at this stage. its my temporary fix. I have a small chipper. but when its big jobs like this, I cant chip it all in it. its only a 4" chipper. so, I need a solution.

Rent a bigger chipper and build up some cash until you can pull the trigger on one. Or contact some of the other co.s in the area and see if they will chip for you but mind you stack the stuff right butts to the road and not in a cluster fudge* (*see A Christmas Story reference).

theres not a chipper to rent within an hour of my city. and its a 12" for $250 a day! I would gladly rent a chipper. I can get rid of the chips no problem.

watch craigslist!!! my personal chipper looks like crap but ya know what it chips!!! it doesn't have tons of power but it will chip up to 8-12" depending what we are chipping. normally I keep logs for firewood so rarely does it see over 6" you know how much I paid for it? 1800 bucks I've spent maybe 120 to make it operational and 150 in repairs since bought(starter and a hydro hose) there are always better options then brush loading!!!

250 for a 12" thats a good deal its 200 for a 6" here! id gladly pay another 50 for the 12!

Renting mine is how I started and yes, the rental agency was 1 hour away and they didn't deliver. $250 a day for a 12" is pretty good. Line up a number of jobs and make the rental make you money.

Eventually, I bought the very chipper I was renting and 7 years later, I'm about to upgrade (I think) to a like size but new. Chippers make you money.:msp_thumbsup: You could even sell the chips if there's a market.

I stage brush at projects and rent a chipper when I accumulate enough brush to make a day of it....I wish I could find a 12" chipper for rent!...Jeez I think I rent a 6" Vermeer for ~230 a day!!

Just to add to this I bought my 03' bc1400xl used from Vermeer and my payments were $325 a month no money down. I have service records and a grocery list of upgrades with it.

i don't know were in pa ya are, but check with the guys in your area that make mulch.have acouple here in york area that will take limbs and do not charge

I do take it to a guy that mulches it for free. but theres no good way to get it all there. I get a 15 yard dumpster dropped. I fill it and he takes the brush out there for me. the rest I process for firewood. its slow! if all the limbs would fit in the dumpster, it would be fine. but I have to shave the limbs, use the larger stuff for firewood and put the brush in the dumpster. I did 3 pines this week and it took 2 dumpsters this way. and 25 yards of firewood. if I had a chipper, I could fill the dumpster with chips and haul the stem only. I had to rig the tops and 2 of the pines down to about 10'. the other one I dropped at 40'. they were all about 70' tall. it took me and 2 guys 21 hours total. and I trimmed a maple while I was there. we even chipped all the small branches in my small chipper. I zipped most of the limbs right to them. if I had a chipper, I coulda done it all much quicker. and cleaner. but.. until I find one or buy one, I am looking for something efficient

I live in johnstown. My small chipper is a 3" cub cadet with a vac on the front. I got it to suck everything up when we are done. I put a large chute on it and it chips brush and small limbs well. But not well on a professional level. I have a silverado.

my home depot doesn't have one. trust me, I have checked everywhere! thanks for the link

Man just buy a $3000 chuck and duck. Keep checking Craigs List until something comes up and look for auctions. The way you'r doing it is a complete waist of time and money. At least buy yourself an old 12' dump truck so you don't have to keep paying the dumpster guy.

There is multiple 12" chuck and duck chippers for sale near lancaster, pa for around $3500. Last time i looked there was 3 of them. Not the best machine, but cheap and will work until you get something better.
