How many of you guys wear those 16" high linesman boots, I use them on days with heavy removals. I see other climbers wear the 10" version, etc. Just curious to see your personal preference.

I use the aluminum and foam west coast style gaff pads, aka "Cadillac" pads, which are awesome, so only need 10 inch Westcoast boots...but myself and many of us just climb in a good solid sole hiking boot, with a bit of a heel to help hold the shank in place. More comfy for ground work and a must for gaffless climbing.

10" White's roughout, triple sole. Best removal boot period, as far as that goes. Every guy I,ve met so far that wore those high tops was trouble on one level or another. Still waiting for that to be disproved.

I have some rebuilt (by Wesco) size 12 boots I'll sell real cheap. :)

16"

Original price, $299. Rebuilt price, $225. $524 total.

:D

Use to be 10" Wescos now it is 16" ers for me.
I now do a different type of climbing. Power Towers.

What ever you choose. I would not reccomend Redwings 16" line boots. For they streach to much when they get damp.

Other equipment.

Bashlin Aluminum hooks.
Cadilac and auto kick back pads.
Klein full floating belt.

Chaq'un a son gout-each to his own taste.

Most climbers, except for one I have worked with have worn boots, perhaps more from a Labour Board regulation than anything though hikers and running shoes with safety features are widely available in Canada for those that prefer a lighter/lower piece of kit. 16" boots are not the norm in Canada, though no doubt some do wear them.

I didn't care for the Wesco climbing boots. I have a pair of 16" hardly used out in the garage. They're probably in the same box with my wesco and hoffman calks. My favorite wescos were the shorter jobmasters. Never could get wescos to keep my feet dry in the wet weather. The leather boots require too much maintenance. I've moved on to boots made with gortex and thinsulate.
