hey guys, check this out......
i went over to a customers house for a consultation on saturday
to check out a little gem magnolia. the customer said that the tree wasn't looking to good.
15-16' little gem, 4" caliper, never prunned
main leader die back, about 2 feet down
loaded w/ magnolia scale
yellow leaves covered w/ sooty mold underneath
6" scheffelara stump w/in inches of the lil' gem (cut down last yr)
scheff roots all over the place, full of decay and mushed out
grey noduals on the magnolia's secondary roots(what i could find)
i tested the pH (8.0)
i cut the suckers off of the scheff and took a soil sample to the state ag for testing.
what would you do???? where would you start????? can this tree be saved????? should i come down???????
