Well, yall just best be leavin' this 'ere yankeeee alone then, y'hear? lol

Lol well they are not the best for heavy loads that's for sure but aluminum prices are pretty good on the positive side of things lol.

I follow now. lol What about bolting some 2X6 pressure treated to the bottom side of them for some added strength?

Well are you planning to drill holes in the aluminum? It will likely work for a while but sorta throws away the light weight effect.

I haven't really thought it out yet. I gotta get the ramps in my hands first I guess. Was thinking some big washers on the aluminum ramps to hold the 2X6's in place. And it does throw away the light duty effect but I'd really like to roll with the mini in my 1 ton dump so I'm trying to think of cheap ways to accomplish that. Figured yer redneck ingenuity might point me in the right direction. lol

In that case weld on hooks at good lift points then use grapple truck to gently set in:)

Seriously blakes I think the ramp would need to be longer if your bed sets as high as mine but I feel ya bro I want to get my old skid in too.

Good point. Maybe I'll check Alum scrap prices afterall. :hmm3grin2orange:

Chris,

Problem with reinforcing ramps with wood is you never know where the weak spot is in a 2x6. A new board dries out eventually and looses flexibility. Then, SNAP and that's that. I wouldn't risk it brother.

I use my dump trailer ramps to load into my 1-ton. They're heavy enough to handle a 7000# full-sized skid steer and worked great for the mt-50. Just weld a small lip to the back of your truck's bed to hold the ramps on.

There are plenty of 3000# aluminum ramps on the internet for $225 and up.

I found a pair of 96 inchers for $200 plus $60 S&H. How long are your ramps on the new chip truck? My 1 ton has a ez dumper insert so I have a bit more height than the average truck. I think 96" will be fine though. 3000# is kinda pushing it but I can't see me putting anything heavier than my mini in the bed of the 1ton.
