Hey Guys!

Just wondering if you guys could give me some advice. I am looking at purchasing a 1989 Hood 7000 loader with grapple and a 22' reach. The guy is asking $7000.00. Do you guys have an idea if this is fair price? Also do you guys know where I could look to find a decent priced loader?

Thats not too bad of a price for that loader,if you want check out "Ironmart" they have alot of good deals on equipment they are located in the Carolina's.Is the loader trailer mounted or truck?

Later Rob..

Thats a pretty good deal then, around this area I can't find a decent trailer mounted loader for under 10,000.I would go for it if it's really nice.A little off topic I see your in Iowa what part??

Well if all it needs is a little paint and some lovin' I'd say go for it offer him 6,500 for it and see what he says..remember cash talks bullsh!! walks...What are you gonna be doing with it??

You must know where Cedar Falls is then and Waterloo..I have a friend that lives out there he's mechanical engineer for John Deere..It's nice out that way except for when it snows :D

I just recently bought a small mill and do a lot of in town tree removal etc and have run into quite a bit of logs so I am looking for a loader/grapple to put on a trailer that is towable by pickup. Something like the trailers Baileys has but I want to go used and cheapest!!!!

lumberinspector,
I guess I am confused. You said you were thinking about a 7000 Hood loader. That is way to big for what you are thinking of doing. That is the kind that goes on a log truck or log trailer. If you are still considering it, that is price is outrageously out of line. Somewhere closer to the 2000 dollar US range would be a little more appropriate. You have got to keep in mind what that loader has been through in the last 14 years running all day every day. Costs to repair loaders are quite high. Just to repack the cylinders is about a hundred bucks, the pump is about a grand, rebuilt collector is another 1200 bucks. Throw in all the pins and bushing that are worn. Now add about 70/per hour labor. Please also keep in mind a brand new Serco 7000 is around 20000 dollars. Brand new. Good luck and e-mail me with any questions.
