I am looking to get a log dolly. The only one I can find is the one offered at sherrill. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of getting one shipped, paying the charges. Any of you guys know of any one else who sells log carts maybe someone local in south east PA?

If you get it through your vermeer dealer you won't have to pay shipping. I got mine through the vermeer dealer and didn't have to pay shipping but yours may be different. Give them a call and see what they can do.

ive had two vermeer dollies, that is the only ones i know of. try googling. if you do go with the vermeer. take it to the welder IMMEDIATLY and add extra support to the handle and akle. other wise the handle will bend up and the axles will get shot on big logs.

i had a guy drop about 1200 lbs on one from 30 ft once. broke the whole frame out. welded it up and its still rolling like a champ.

Nothern Tool

do you have northern tool in PA? seems like you should, assuming the name makes any sense, since they are here in asheville. i don't have one of these from northern, but i was looking around the web and that was a pretty good price.
a friend of mine bought his at a place called a.m. leonard. here is a link to it:

i can't remember the exact name, but the bottom plate on it is longer than the sherrill version, and he was very happy with it. also it cost under $300. my experience is that sherrill is really overpriced on some stuff - always look for less expensive alternatives since they do the price-match anyway - it will keep them on their toes.

hope this helps

Mine is a few years old and has never bent, and I have carried some good loads with it.
Why would you use the log dolly as a cushion to drop logs on?:dizzy:

This is how I got mine. Make sure you get the green one, not sure if the yellow one is even available anymore, but it does not fit through a 36" gate, the green one is 35 1/2" and fits just fine.

I've used the Northern Tool cart for a few years with no problems. Well, actually, the cross bar handle broke my nose on Monday but that was my fault.

yeah but we run a half a ton on that thing on the regular. ive had both the green and yellow, and the yellow was extremely stout compared to the green.

as for bombing the dolly...... lets just say he wont be doing that again lol.

i had 2 guys load the dolly on a trailer stacked about 6' high with wood one day. they werent payin attention and it flipped back down and CLOCKED one guy right in the forehead. HUGE welt. them thing hurt lol.

as far as that goes.... we had a juicy bradford with about a 30" diameter, probably 6-7feet long on the green one one day. i had four guys pushing me and one guy spotting me so the load didnt tip. we were going down hill in wet grass and the dolly stood up. if youve ever move3d BIG wood on these then you know what a pain it is to get it going, so losing your load suckes lol. when it stood up i wound up 5' in the air horizantal, with my arms extended on the handle. the dolly rolled out from under the log in the wet grass, and me and it went for a ride. finally came to a stop when it went off the curb. my knees where ate up for a couple months over that one.....

This job can find a thousand different ways to hurt you. The homeowner kind of freaked when she saw all the blood on my shirt. She offered to get me ice and some paper towels but I had baby diapers and ice in the truck. 'Seemed like a nice kind offer but as I was loading the last saw she yelled "you are coming back tomorrow to finish, aren't you?" So much for sympathy.

LogRite makes a full line of log dollies and tools and they are great folks. I don't know the shipping details but tell em Tree Divisiion sent you and I'm sure they'll either waive the shipping or charge you double. http://logrite.com/

I've had mine for several years, I got it before the new one that fits through a 36" gate came out. I wish I could have got the green one. So far I've been lucky that every gate I've had to take it through has been over 36".

some gates are just to small...... flip and wedge the dolly thru as best you can. then move everything to the gate, and have the groundies roll it or endoverend it thru the gate. then just put the dolly back thru and wheel it all out.
