Just read on KOMO news, that a logger was killed in the Naselle area when he was trapped between a loader and a stump. I'll not post his name.
Sad to hear that. We've lost two fallers in the last month here. With the increased activity after a long slowdown guys are itching to get going, not to mention the increased pressure to get the wood on the ground fast after the long winter so the iron can get going. Most everyone's working now, but feeling the pressure. Everyone keep that in mind and stay in your comfort zones, don't try to do things that are out of your skill range just for productions sake.
Don't mean to preach, but we don't need to hear of anymore guys going down.
It did seem from the name that he was the company owner. I trust the Lord will bring peace and comfort to the family. The gentleman killed was a friend of my friends. He came in yesterday to tell me about it. Apparently he hauled his skidder up in the dark to be ready for the next day. When he got up there it was plenty dark and he went to take it out to the logging site. Apparently he ran off the road and it went about 250' over the hill. I guess it didn't hit the ground for the first 100'.
As was mentioned before we can all take a lesson from this. Production is everything, next to keeping yourself and others safe. My prayers are out to his family.
He and his brother owned their company. From what I hear he was a prince of a guy, just like his brother. They had just finished a job about 2 miles from my home. This is one of those times in our lives when we do have to wonder about our Creator. When times get tough we always seem to reach out as humans. It did seem from the name that he was the company owner. I trust the Lord will bring peace and comfort to the family.
You got it.Bad deal.
