Are there enough mad people to challenge it in court? I get sooo mad when :censored: people from "the city" move out to "the country" and then have to start changing the way the locals live and then it becomes more like the city. It is scary because sometimes California leads the way and Oregon and Washington follow.

don't you know? Houses are made from plastic and drywall.

Only big business can responsibly harvest big forests, not you the local homeowner.

No, you'd responsibly take the trees that were dying and let the others grow.

At some point the individual townships, if not the counties have to start talking back to the state and say "enough's enough"

No problem, let the STUPID IDJOTS keep that brush and trees around their houses and maybe when their houses burn down they'll move back to the city!

I dont think it is the dogooders as much as the big fish finding a way to control future profits of harvestable timber but the "not in my backyard syndrome" always plays a part. The small parcels of land seem to get gobbled up in a few years and next thing you know the developing begins! I have seen a lot of logging in our area as of late, good and bad, also downright ugly rape! You know the outfits I am talking about: logs go on the truck, no new trees planted for the future, brush and branches left where they lay to rot. Poor forestry management. Excuse me while I get another can of beer out of the magical cold box:cheers: ( someday I will figure out how it gets there:) )

What I find amusing by way of contrast is Northern WI.

In the nicolet national forest, the forest gets cut down for pulp. If it's not pine or cedar, it doesn't get cut.

So there's a mix of oak, a few apple, and even some beechwood trees I believe.

However, with the advent of the computer, combined with declining newspaper sales, the 25 year rotation is more like a 50 year rotation.

It'll make good pulp; but I wouldn't want to make it into pellets to burn, not pine.
