Can anyone reccomend a logger in the sandy oregon area I have a few acres of export quality logs it is a small job probably 3 -5 log truck loads.

I know of some in Woodland, WA, but for that quantity it would be best to find somebody who is working nearby. That way you'll save a little bit on move in and move out costs. Anybody logging within a few miles of you?

If it's export quality logs you'll want to make sure it's somebody who has experience. Mistakes in falling and bucking can turn those good logs into just plain saw logs real fast. Same with skidding and loading, you have to handle them just right or they'll lose value.

Try to find Jesse Juris in Hood River. He's done quite a bit of export falling. I don't have a current phone number for him but he shouldn't be hard to find. If he can't help you he'll know who can.

Guy in Colton. Lives right on 204(214?). His sweetie raises dogs. One man show far as I know.

Last name's Smith.

Bob and Ron Zeeman (of Mt. Hood, OR) were recommended to me by the log buyer at WKO, Carson. I talked to Bob (the old man) on the phone quite a while, and will have him and/or his son take a look at a 10 acre salvage sale I have prepared for a client in Hood River (99 MBF Doug-fir, 3 MBF grand fir). He may pay stumpage, which would mean a simpler deal as he would also market the logs to the local mills (SDS, Mt Hood, WKO) for the best price --- he has loads of experience, so this is a plus.

They are in the Gorge phone book.

He's here in klicktat county, but he has yet to provide me with his insurance and bonding numbers. Otherwise I have his contact.
