I'd like to get myself a wraptor this year for pruning the big monster red oaks. The biggest problem I encounter with coming down is not wanting to go back to work. Lunch will kick my ass usually, so I have to get the bulk done before that. However if I eat lunch in the tree I eat just enough to keep going and stay at it.

I have spent 2 days taking out this huge tree , it was awful , and cold the second day it snowed and I couldn't leave knowing that was my last chance at this climb before we got 2 ft. of snow so I stuck with it , the worst part was it was a sycamore tree I slipped all over it for almost 6 hours ... I was so tired that I fell asleep in the truck on the way home ...horrible day

Longest was a 36" White pine that was about 110' tall. Took two days total of 12 hours in the tree. Bombed some stuff but had to lower a lot too. One day total is probably about 6 hours. Longer than that and I'm pretty whooped. Especially a big removal where you have a big saw on your hip, block, rope etc etc.

3- 8hr days in 1 large American Elm, the tree was in the Arborist`s Bi-centenial .....Not only was I in the tree but another climber & a bucket operator were involved in the massive removal.

this was a rear easement tree found in Osbourne PA, broke all kinds of records, DBH, crown spread & points! utiltiy ran a 13.2kv single phase line through the middle of it...........the tree was used as a corner marker for 3 properties, truly a historical gem...........meticulous attention was paid to this tree through out the years, however a Penn state resistograph study & other tests showed the tree was in a state of decline & would only worsen as time went on.

the tree actually took a week to do!!! due to an inclement weather clause we had in our union contract we were not permitted to work in the rain, God......that clause was nice on mondays after a hard wkend....but not for this monster!

I actually would climb up, get ready to cut & then bam....RAIN, have to come down, wait & do that several times over the course of 2 days...in the end (not counting my worthless climbs) 3 days total......

The longest time (in one day) was a little over 11 hours. Large Silver Maple. I had planned to have an extra climber, but he could not make it. Spent the whole time just removing the brush and then went back the next day and removed the big wood.

As for lunch, I don't eat when I'm doing tree removals. (Stomach won't handle it). A large breakfast, and then lots of gatorade all day. On hot days I don't end up having to piss, just sweat it out.

It is not unusual for me to be in a tree(s) for 8 hours out of the day. Until I got a good set of climbing boots and some caddy pads it was a killer. Feet would go numb.

I lost count of hours by day 3. 5' DBH Manitoba Maple with a huge spread and holes I could stick my arm into up to my shoulder, over a house, 2 garages, and 2 fences. Doing the job under the table for my landlord. One of the worst jobs of my climbing career. Everything had to be rigged and pieced down bit by bit b/c I didn't trust putting too much stress on any rigging points.
