BIG CICERO

As far as sharpening goes our machine cost us about 7000 dollars. Its is a wet grinder and is capable of doing approximately eight knives at once. This keeps the blade cool so it does not lose it temper. Keep in mind the angle of your knife is important also...I believe Vermeer uses a 40 degree angle if I am
not mistaken.

BIG CICERO, 7000 for a sharpener seems pretty steep for me and to do that many knives at once seems like you have many chippers.
how many chippers do you run or what is the size of your work force?

We are the Morbark dealer so we sharpen quite a few blades per week. It did take about a year and half to pay off.

In our shop we use a RBG1012C grinder, primarly a commercial mower blade grinder 1 hp 12" cereamic blue wheel. Easy to set the angle relatively cool grind I made a jig to hold the blade. Most of the blades we grind are for BANDIT'S. We charge shop labor rate to grind $45.00 per hr. equals to about $1.25 per inch. :blob2:
