so you got stoned one night and read a book that your stoner pal recommened to you. Nietzsche, real deep stuff.

Good for you.

Once you sobered up, you came out of it with these ideas???

Put down the pipe. You have no concept of real business management or ownership. How does your plan deal with employee personality issues? what happens when the lead climber for a crew or two can't show for the day? How about instruction of the employees? And once these guys are educated on the sysyetm, what stops them from grabbing a few guys from you and starting their own companies now that they also know your tactics? How about equipment breakdowns and fleet maintenance for 20 guys or 20 crews? And when work does slow down as a result of your saturation of the area you work in, what then? Do the guys rake your leaves at your house or paint your deck till the phone rings? And who is it that will meet with the potential clients and how do you deal with bad reviews or complaints which will hurt you companies reputation? How much will you pay for insurance? Do you actually have a mechanic for all the equpiment for all of these crews? And whats the turnover rate for your equipment? I guess once it's paid for, it's gonna run forever?

clueless
How much do you spend per year on maintenance? Why is your company still small? Guys leave and go do their own thing right? I would too tbh.

Truck and equipment maintenance around $12K which includes fuel
upgrading tools and equipment, another $6K
then there's advertisement, salaries, mortgage on the garage, electricity, heat, business taxes, property taxes and that's running one crew! Of course, on top of that, you have to not only provide for the business but for your own life like cost of living like food, property tax on your own home, clothes, heat/phone/cable/water in the home and of course not just for me alone.

Tell me your quick breakdown of what you pay out in your current position without even being a business owner. Where does you pittance go every month/year?

The more you post, the more it's clear that you have NO idea.

Oh wowwww i said like 10k for maybe maintenance per year per crew and then like 3,000 for insurance plus workmans comp you are so right i was so far off i might as well commit die right? Literally off by what thousands? Also if you own a small company im willing to bet your “garage” is on your property i wouldnt bother with a legitimate business adress/office space needless useless overhead. Notice how its no longer “oh the insurance is expensive” because it isnt. Its no longer “oh the maintenance is expensive” because it really isnt (it is yes but not that bad to justify the pay rate) and being gracious i will replace “upgrading tools and equipment” with “replacing tools and equipment” i doubt it tbh. 12k sounds reasonable for maintenance and isnt outside of what i thought now we are throwing in an extra 6k for what exactly? As i said this is not a business model that is for small companies it isnt really profit driven and it isnt something i would expect someone else to do but this is also assuming your gross income for the year is like 300,000k ish. 10 jobs a month 3k avg price(assumption but not reLly reasonable assumption) 30,000x10 (this assumes you are taking 2 months off entirely and only working 10 days a month). 300,000k x.30 is net rev after THE MOST EXTREME SPLIT REMOTELY POSSIBLE IT IS HYPERBOLIC TO PROVE A POINT. Is 90,000 profit per crew per year after paying employees. Remember the main point of the entire post was really hey you are under paying guys thats why they arent working for you. Lets remove the 30k you think you pay in over head per crew per year.(have you ever done the numbers? At this point i doubt it tbh. 12k again reasonable. Extra 6k from wear? Employees buy their own equipment. What are you upgrading with 6k exactly?) now the tax argument is complicated because it depends on the type of business you run but its understandable I don’t have any argument for taxes being gae. Really i just find it funny you say i have no clue but my estimates on prives where fairly accurate just kinda odd. Like 10k but you didnt want to say 10k because you dont want to admit im kinda right so then you add 2k. Im pulling numbers completely out of my ass so the fact im even in the ball park lets you know how bad it actually is. Reduce your overhead to as near 0 as possible. Some people want nice offices and a good home base type of deal but really just find a crew lead you can trust and pay him well and make sure he has reasonable storage for the vehicles. (Think about how some satellite companies employee people they send the truck and the supplies needed and use the employees home as the central hub) can this lead to issues? Yes. Is it preferable? Maybe. Idk that would be one im not that strong on. Also i would like to emphasize again that my point was you are paying people at best 10% per job. Does it NEED to be 50%? **** no. I took the MOST extreme position possible. And you still cant really argue it doesnt quite work. “I would be as poor as my employees” yes, unless you had more crews, and really at 30% to the owner you would indeed be making less than your employees per crew. Do you think it would be easier to maintain more crews? Do you think you could expect more of the employees? No sales department no advertising your employees handle that because they get paid enough to want to. Your attitude is actually worse than mine in the matter i think, you feel the need to justify it when you could very well just say “i am greedy and if they are willing to work for someone else they have a slaves mindset and deserve nothing” that would be non bugman behavior.
