I am looking for Hydraulic driven splitter. I have the tractors to move the hyd. oil (JD 8430, MX 230, ect.) which are rated at something like 45 GPM. I need no motors or hyd. tanks, just a wedge & cylinder if you now what I mean. Doesn't even have to be 3 pt. mounted, I will move it with our loader tractors and forks. I usually bring the wood to the splitter and then pile. Not sure on the tons (30-50), but bigger is better and length should be 36 inches plus range. I guess kinda like Timberwolf TW-10 without the pump and 70 gal. tank. Just looking for ideas. I will probably just make one, we have some big I&H beams and a bunch of hydraulic cylinders. Thanks to all who read.

Using one those big tractors is like swatting flies with a sledge hammer. You would be better off getting a pto run pump and use a small utility tractor.

Well, I am sure I will get harped again, but I have tried!!
I have 27hp with a 28gpm two stage pump and a 6 3/4"bore 3" rod and 26" stroke cylinder.
All I can seem to do is break it!!!
I need to build my push block (the wedge is on the end of the H-beam) out of 1 1/4" steel.

No matter what you think, you CANNOT overbuild it!!!
What ever you think you need, TRIPLE IT!!!

When I use the big tractor everyday, it is warm and at my disposal. No need for utility tractor unless I am raking hay and my wood cutting for me happens in the winter. Meaning I am not going to plug in and start a 2840 JD(example of utility tractor) to hook to the log splitter when I just finished driving an MX 230 for 8 hrs. Just my reality or how things happen here.

sawinredneck I agree. We have built some but they spend more time in front of our welder than splitting wood. Kinda why I am looking for a company, maybe timberwolf to bulid it.
