Continued rains after the hurricane have toppled and loosened some trees from ground connection. Presently, it is raining and we have 1 mulberry, 1 oak and 2 pine trees at different locations whose footing is loose tide back till i can get to them.

The pines especially you can stand on the tension side of the ground and feel the spongy looseness of the pull, while the compression side of ground is firmer. Bracing back against lean firms refirms the ground.

All 4 have valuable targets in their aim, can't see any being a prop, nor people having support lines across yard.

Is calling Thee Evil Executioner Erik out of mys-elf the only realistic option?

Any such lines bearing such tension very long is immediately downgraded to below premium rigging line classification in my lil'black book (never needed it for all those names and numbers....)

IMHO customers call. Cost of remove/grind/ replant/grow vs. PITA guywire for a while.

Edit: In '96 bid a 100' fir with loose rootball that had a hottub at the base of tree. Every time the wind would gust the hot tub would lift 6". So...if those are small trees, and they won't go for guywires...how about a well placed hot tub:laugh:

i had to take one of the braced pines out this Subnday morning; it really even semed looser; no climb; brought her out with loose base without incident.

Edit: i never cut a bunch of weight off wide end of spar, until releasing some tension from hinge pull!

removal, sad but true. had a number of clients facing this very same situation after isabel. here in suburbia, lots are cut small and the option of bracing or otherwise supporting the trees were very limited. i just did my first treescape design for a client of mine who lost a pine to this very same problem.

should point out that there were a few smaller ones i was able to pull over to upright and then stake or cable them.
