Hi forum, I am rebuilding an MS 460 with a seized up piston and from what I can gather the saw should have a 52mm piston but it has a 44mm one.... The cylinder head is an aftermarket Chinese thing from XinLei, and it says 52 on it, but the piston is definitely 44mm. Is it possible someone put the wrong cylinder and piston in it? The hole in the crankcase is definitely much larger than the piston. Any advice much appreciated!

Thats a China fake saw not a real or even clone 460. Thats why.

You been mislead lied to.
Thanks I did wonder! Nobody lied to me it was left in the house my friend bought after the previous owner passed away. Used it for a bit but it overheated and seized up, can get a cheap replacement piston and cylinder locally for peanuts and he can keep using it but I will tell him to go easy as it is not a genuine stihl

I wouldn't wast time or money on trying to repair. Something about polishing a turd.

New piston and cylinder with gaskets is only $15 at my local store and will take me all of 20 minutes to put it back together. Will be fine for my buddy to cut up some firewood and do a bit of gardening until it breaks again. Will certainly recommend he buys a better one for the long term and not to spend more money on it though

$15!!!! A 6-pack of good beer is almost that now.............ummm 6 pistons?

Who makes those and would it fit without getting "creative".

Need to know why the P/C toasted itself, unless it got straight gassed.

I forget the brand, I will post some pictures when I get it. The guy has a repair shop and uses these parts so there's a good chance they are reasonable quality knock offs. Should be a straight fit
It wasn't straight gassed I mixed the fuel myself 50:1. Burnt out after about 30 minutes cutting through some lumps of hard wood. Wasn't aware it was a fake stihl or I would have adjusted the carb so it didn't rev so high and not worked it so hard
