Thanks to Joe Salva
and fellows like him we are able to raise these oldies from the dead.

Well the kit fit perfectly. I'll have to let Joe know he did a good job. Now I'll have to dig the saw out.
Can somebody tell me where to set this carb at. H/L
Well?
Don't leave a brother hanging...we want to know how it works.
The 44/55 and D-30/36 saws all had that same carburetor. I was able to get a few NOS fuel pump diaphragms from and e-bay auction but never had to look for other parts yet. Good to know that Joe was willing and able to get new kits made up.
I think you will be pretty impressed with the speed and power of that old saw. My D-44 will spin up around 9,000 RPM in the cut.
The D-44 is 72 cc, the S44 is 80, and the S44A is 87, all three are pretty advanced engines for their time. I only wish they had an automatic oiler.

Wow, I'm glad I came across this post, I'm looking for a carb kit for my newly acquired Super 44A. It was sitting in barn for
20+ years but looks to be in pretty good shape. Does anyone know the best way to get a hold of one of these kits?
Also, does anyone have a maintenance manual/parts diagram for this saw? I'll take a look through the manual section of the site. The "fins" attached to the clutch that engage the starter pully need some work/replaced. I doubt there are many parts available out there, anyone have an idea of where I might look?
Good ole shatback carb..I have kits for those and so can you the fella at Sugar Creek has those. Also the HL-141 carb will work just as well, but get a couple of kits for the flatty when ya order..nice saw!!
