What is it with collecting McCullough chain saws I buy one that needs one part so I by another to get that one part now I have two saw’s and they both need one part to finish them both.

I have a Mac 4900 that needs a chain break assembly
( 20” Oregon bar and chain 49cc engine)
And a Mac 4600 that needs a Coil
( 16” Mac bar and Oregon chain 46cc )

My Gear:
Oregon chain filing jig and raker set jig
Disposable grease gun for sprocket tip on bar
McDonald T aluminum Hard hat
(like the one my grandpa wore at the mill)
Good Gear Protection and Eye to

Say,old chap, get into the 10 series,or the big reed valves. Those models have many interchangeable parts, within their groupings.

cool sight web sight i am kind of looking for a big saw to mill with

i also found a stash of parts saws of all kinds at a local engine repair shop saw a few big old macs there i think i should go for another look through the pile

are their any models that have a good parts availability still?

Anything made before 2000, they wont make parts for it now. but the parts DO exist out there somewhere in some dusty shop corner just waiting for the right person to come along.
