Best part of MAC is the all-day Field Day; a wide range of topics will be covered this year. Indoors they have a giant of a speaker, Kim Coder. If he doesn't get you off your mental a** then no one can.

MAC is a really solid chapter; lots of good energy from members pitching in..If anyone wants to rec climb in Richmond I'm in...Norm being a terrestrial, we may get him to help with gear. Hey Norm, do you know of a tree that lost its central leader I can demo putting a cap on? Gotta help the birdies too, especially in Byrd Park.

Just a note about the meeting, good info at the field day demos saw some cool stuff displayed by the speakers even in the slight bit of rain. Some eye opening info about tree rigging and the different torque put on the tree trunk from using distant anchor points. Some good speakers at the meeting tuesday, Dr. Coder and Kane interesting info on wind and pruning and storm damage assessment, and our own Guy Meilleur on his selective heading cuts, not topping cuts. On member of the group went as far as to call the ideas revolutionary :) Hopefully next time Guy will have some additional after pictures to show the progress of the work.
Good venders at the shows also, bought some more toys, note to Sherrills, when they send a group to sell items at an arborist demo day please bring some work gloves to sell. ;)

that makes me a little nervous, considering what happens to many revolutionaries :( I don't want to die just yet.

Hopefully next time Guy will have some additional after pictures to show the progress of the work.
Yeah I had more but no time left to show em. AV probs (not mine THIS time) and time spent in advance disavowing topping, which i did on what I thought was good advice, cut way into the time. Then there was the discussion about that burl-in-the-making... :D
MACISA's Field Day really sets it apart form other chapters. Like ISA Pittsburgh did, it showed the need for more field diagnosis sessions. There was supposed to be a limit of 50 for the sessions but I had 73 for my first one.

Not a statement about the presenter but the topic; we all need to talk and listen more with each other about what we see in trees and what to do about it. I learned a lot from the folks who spoke up to question what I was saying. I wouldn't dish it out if I couldn't take it, right?
