Hi guys, I just found this site yesterday(4-11-05) while looking for some info on an old, almost brand new SP 105. So far I'm really impressed with all the great info you guys have to offer. I searched the forum for info on the 105 but have'nt quite found what I'm looking for.
I would like to know how available parts are and what a good price would be for it. The saw was used once to cut a tree that had fallen in my friends driveway back in the mid 80's. It still has the original dealer fuel mix in it(which smells like turpentine now) and a 36" bar. The chain looks brand new as well. He said they made roughly 10 cuts through the log to open up his driveway. As of now, I can probably trade him 2 cords of mixed walnut and almond for this saw. This thing is super clean. Is it worth it?

Thanks guys

I'd give em the wood, and take the saw. an SP105 is the little brother of the SP125, which was in its day, the king of the woods.

Thanks for the quick replies fellas. Since the wood is free, aside from my labor, I'm gonna go ahead and make the deal. He has variuos other saws laying around his shop as well. I seen a couple 32cc Macs(1 nib) and variuos other items of interest. He's 85 years young and willing to wheel and deal. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

Thanks again

Some of these saws had a danged fixed jet carb, which may or may not work for you. They are a pretty peppy saw ,lots of torque. Most likely a carb rebuild kit and a little clean up and it will just dandy. The one in the picture sat in a repair shop, for 20 years with a broken recoil.

You just have to keep you eyes in "look" mode, all the time Bob."Tant nuthin,!I found a Monarch 10" EE,for $800,and a Bridgeport model M,for $700.Not to get off the subject of the SP 105.They are a nice saw, lotsa grunt.I don't think they had the popularity of the SP125.Probably in the eyes of the fellers,on the west coast,if 6.5 cu in is good, then 7.5 cu in is better.

What a cool site this is. I originally posted that my friend bought the saw new in the 80's. I spoke with him today and told him the saws production ended in 1977. He told me he bought it new in 1976 and to clean the wax outta my ears sos I would pay better attention to him. This thing has sat for almost 30 years untouched. I'm excited about this old thing.
Thanks for the links to the other sites fellas. All of the sudden I've found a new hobby. Chainsaws.
