It has aluminum side plates and incorporates a 5/8" roller at the bottom friction point. Seems to work alright , and there is little chance of the rope escaping once installed.

Nice. How well does it push up the line with the friction hitch? Can you just work slack from the tail coming back from a limb walk or do you need to move and set the rope wrench on the line as well?

It pushes ahead of the hitch nicely. If I were to change anything it would be to rotate the tether point counterclockwise just a bit. I am trying to work out a way to make the tether point adjustable so that the torque could be altered as desired, but this may not be neccesary. I have not been on a limb walk, but it slides along with the hitch with very little, if any additional friction, so long as it is not loaded with weight.

What does that tool do that a prusic or blakes does not already do ?

The rope wrench concept was conceived by Kevin Bingham and is for use on SRT. It allows you to use the same hitch as on a doubled rope, but with consistent friction even with re-directs.

I have made the OAR for use on SRT and a doubled rope. Here is my latest model.
