I've read that -40 kills them. Not sure if they mean -40 of air temp or if the tree those buggers are dormant in actually needs to get to -40.As of Feb. 12, the EAB has been found in NH and Mass, within 35 miles of the Maine border. Let's hope Maine winters don't agree with 'em!
That would be good info to know, but I doubt here in Iowa that I need to be concerned as it really doesnt ever get -40. I believe the EAB has been found in NE parts of the state and am guessing its just a matter of time.........and I have several nice Ash trees in the yard that are getting big enough to give some great summertime shade.I've read that -40 kills them. EAB is up to central MN. We usually get at least one snap of over -40 so maybe we'll luck out. I've only got about two dozen ash trees total to contend with between my two places. That would be good info to know, but I doubt here in Iowa that I need to be concerned as it really doesnt ever get -40. The tree needs to get below -40 and stay that way for awhile. We can't even kill them round these parts.I've read that -40 kills them. Not sure if they mean -40 of air temp or if the tree those buggers are dormant in actually needs to get to -40.
Iowa is not too far off from me in Illinois and we have plenty of it. None that I have seen in my own woods yet but it is just a matter of time. There are reports of it just 30 miles away from me.That would be good info to know, but I doubt here in Iowa that I need to be concerned as it really doesnt ever get -40.
