The boss picked up a job sidetrimming maples for the power company. The line was staked out and we had to provide clearance for a standard backhoe to operate in order to install underground line. Hydro needed a figure so the boss threw $1500(Cdn) in the air and they jumped all over it. We got there with 6 hrs left in the day(I don't work over 8 if I can help it) and I made the deal that if we finished today we took tomorrow off with pay. He said half day with pay. I said fine.

Anyway, with me cutting and a buddy doing cleanup we banged it off in 4 hrs and took the rest of the day off:) Planning on having my first Silver Bullet by 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.

What's the point of this story? Could it be that it's nice to come in under a bid once in a while? Do incentives help productivity? Or maybe it's just that I had to tell someone that can relate to it. As gripping of a tale as it is, I don't imagine the old lady would even make the effort to pretend to be interested.;)

Oh well, Say la vie, Que sera and Be Safe!

I'm going to steal "flop-o-matic" if you don't mind. That's pretty good.:D A cutter I used to know would pump his own tires after flopping a tree on target and say, "Just like it had eyes!"

yup the old basal cut. as in "just how did you get that dicey backleaning alder down so quickly?"

"all she needed was a basal cut and a tirfor jack."

it's a good feeling when a reasonable calculated risk pays off due to our skill.

I like The Winch and a high tie added in there. Set up the hinge with a bore, put soem wedges in for SOP and make some wind.

I love reducing that risk as much as possible:D
