Hello,

I've never posted in the milling section before, but am looking for a bit of advice. I know where there is a Makita 9010 for sale locally to me, but I've never seen a Makita saw of any model in the flesh, let alone ran one!

Is this saw suitable for a CSM? Are there any known issues with this model?

cheers,
Joe

makita chainsaws are rebranded dolmars. dolmar chainsaws are very well respected from what i've read. i have a makita 5400 (54 cc) that i like very much. i've beaten the hell out of it and it still runs just fine. the 9010 is 90cc. that should be an excellent milling saw. if the price is right and it runs fine grab it!

thanks mike, I'll have a think about it then. Saw is pretty well brand new, not had 10 tanks through it - owner brought it and found it was waaayyy too big for him to be comfortable with.

I've never done any milling before, but considering it as I chainsaw carve at the moment, and would like to expand into making tables etc. But the biggest saw I have at the moment is my Husky 365, which probably isn't big enough to mill with!

cheers,
Joe

they are a dolmar and the only problem is the 9010 is quite heavy where as the 7901 is close to the same power rating and considerably lighter. See if you can get a HD filter setup for it if you are going to mill with it. It should drive a 36 inch bar alright on a mill.
