Makita Dolmar DCS 7900 for sale

Ok, guys I hate to do it, But I need to sell my Makita 7900. I bought a new 7900 at a powershow this morning, I just have to go pick it up. So, the Blue 7900 needs a new home. Saw is 100% ready to go.

This is a Makita DCS6401 that I put a 7900 cylinder and piston on. It is a former Home depot saw. Other than the home depot serial #'s on the handle bar, gas tank, case, etc. It looks like a new saw. I bought 5 of these over that last year and this was the lowest hour, best condition one I found. That is why I kept it. The new 7900 piston and cylinder have less than 10 hours of run time on it. Saw is in great condition with a new air filter and plug. The starter cover had been replaced before I got it. The antivibe springs feel like new, not like a beat up, worn out saw.

I want $450 out of the saw. That includes shipping (lower 48), a 20" total bar (like new), two chains, a scrench, and owners manual. I might even have a bar cover kicking around for it. I stand behind the stuff I sell. If it isn't exactly as I described it, send it back for a refund. I am not making any money on this deal, just trying to recoupe some dollars. The saw cost me $250, the 7900 piston and cylinder were a little over $200 with tax. The bar and chains and shipping are pretty much free with this deal. I guarentee that you will not see a nicer used makita.

I have more 20" chains available if needed. I also have a 28" oregon powermatch bar with about 2 hours cut time on it with 2 chains available for an additional amount

This saw is stock. There is no modifications to it. I can include a modified muffler for an additional amount. Shipping to canada will be a little more.

Thanks

Here are some pics. I have more if needed. The pics shows a modded muffler. This is not included. A brand new stock muffler will be bolted on the saw.

Had a couple people asking about it, but nothing serious. Need to thin down the fleet a littel, this one needs to go. $450 shipped gets you a like new blue 7900 with almost new bar and two new chains.

Stang,

What would be the price of the saw with an modded muffler? I have some dumb ???? but is the 6400 and 7900 the same stroke? This sounds dumb but is it the same power as a 7900(with out muffler mod) ... im just trying to inform my self, going next week to maybe pick up a new 7900 for like $650, but I woundnt mind a used one, still got alot of life in it or what.
Thanks

The Dolmar 6400, 7300, and 7900 all share the same stroke as well as the Makita DCS (dcs stands for dolmar chain saw) 6401, 7301, and 7901. They all use the same parts, with the piston and cylinder being the main difference. Other than the serial # saying it is a 6401, it is and has all the correct pieces of any normal 7900 or 7901 (makita made the 7901 for a couple years). And standard Dolmar parts will fit this. the new piston/cylinder, air filter and carb kit came straight from my Dolmar dealer

I currently have the modded muffler on my other 7900, but I would think 30 bucks or so would cover it.

As far as your power question, I'm not understanding it. This a 7900, but it is blue. Makita now owns Dolmar. So yes, the power is the same without the modded muffler. With the modded muffler, I saw about 3/4 of a second difference in 10x10 ash. So, that shows the power from the muffler mod is there.

The saw is 3 three years old. I have had it for almost a year and put about 25 hours on it total, most of that time was before the 7900 piston and cylinder. From the condition of the saw, it was not used as much as most of the used saws before I got it. There is plenty of life left in this powerhouse.

I will say that there was nothing wrong with the saw when it had the smaller piston and cylinder on it. I just wanted a cheap 7900 without buying a new one, so I took the best 6401 I could find and put the 7900 piston and cylinder on it. I just didn't want people to think that this saw started life as a leaned out scored piston and cylinder. that was not the case. If this doesn't sell, I will put the 6400 piston and cylinder on it and sell it to a friend that needs a new saw but doesn't have the cash for the 7900.

The truth is, I said it had less than 10 hours. It is probably closer to 5 hours with the new piston and cylinder. It isn't even broke in yet..... (with the 7900 piston and cyl)

Buyer planning on the 28 in. Bar too?

If the buyer is not interested in the 28 inch bar and chains. I am interested.

Steve,
Do you still have the additional modded muffler for the 7900 available for sale?
Thanks, Jay.

Bump, any of you guys that have Lowe's around that sell off these saws from time to time, I'm now ready to buy one if you can get one for me that is in good shape. I want to get a 7900 cyl kit and send it to Ed to mod. His 7900's beat his 372's....but my ehp 372 beats my Danny Henry 7900......so I just gotta have a silver and blue saw that will eat a stock 066 for breakfast and beat a modded 372.....

Steve,
Thanks anyway! You can't blame a guy for trying!:)
Jay.
