Is there anything you can do about Maple tree roots in turf? They are sticking up all over the place. I told them there was nothing to be done without hurting the tree but that I would research it. Is it a case of a wrong species of tree for the spot?

Thanks, I would have taken pictures, but I didn't think you would be able to see anything useful.

A lot of Maples are notorious surface rooters, The more compact the soil around the tree the more roots will come up. Larger mulch beds around the tree can help with appearance and tripping hazard.

A thin layer of good soil, just enough to cover the roots, should be OK if there are no other problems with the tree. If the depth needs to exceed an inch or two to get the job done, add it in increments a year or so apart.

I didn't know that you could put any soil around, thanks
