Just happened to see this 261 up for sale near me. Looked practically brand new. Came with the case, bar (pretty beat up), brand new husky chain, all the paper literature it came with new and a few tools. I’m going to assume the $439.99 written on the manual was the price of the saw in 1998.
So as I do, shot him a price that if he agreeed I couldn’t not buy it and that’s exactly what he did.
After getting this thing home and looking it over I cannot believe how clean/pow use it has on it. There’s practically no carbon at all on the exhaust port or the muffler.
I haven't cleaned a thing but let me tell you that there are no scratches or blemishes and after it thaws outside a good degreasing and hose spray will have it looking brand new.
I’ll be putting a 262 piston in it and mm’ing it as well. What a day!
I think I will leave all of the 261 stickers/identifying info on it and not put 262xp stuff on it. I don’t think I’ll be selling it ever and like the sleeper saw aspect t of it too.
