McC Muffler mod questions

well i am going to lightly mod my little saw i split the muffler and found a few surprises in its design i think i know what needs to change but i want to run it past the guys that have done this before.

first i want to keep the spark screen but the former under that only has six hole's in the bottom side my plan it so make swiss cheese out of it for more air flow.

second the exit of the muffler has a long tube running to it from inside i plan to make this disappear and to in large the hole.

O N , are you going to use the same outlet deflector ?

possibly i havent really decided if i use it i will have to make it bigger to match the outlet

Area

O N , is the area of the muffler outlet small compared to the deflector outlet ?

the area is about the same but the outlet as is it now is a long tube with a baffel at the outside end

Outlet

O N , if you took the pipe out and opened the outlet hole so that it was the almost the same width as the inside width as the outlet deflector you might be happy with the performance . My old 044 has a similar deflector and the outlet hole is partially outside of the deflector and the exhaust is directed to about 30 degrees out .
