I have a very nice orginal (barelly used since new) Mcculloch 15 with a Tillotson HC13-A carb. All it needs is kit but I'm having trouble locating one. Anyone know of a source?

nope, but you can adapt an HL carb from a 250 or similar saw of the same displacment. would work just as well I think, assuming you dont have to fabricate a new throttle linkage and choke linkage too.

I was hoping to keep it all orginal if possible. I might try an HL - just so I can feel the vibration of an old saw - I have a box of them here in various states of disrepair.

I've got a link, on my old fried `puter, to a supply co. that has/had parts for McCulloch saws. I will try to get it off of the drive and post it. Don't hold your breath on that though. If I am lucky I may find it on my old Zip drive. Stay tuned.

HC carb parts.

Lakeside53. Have you taken the HC carb apat as yet? The gasket and diaphragm in that carb, to me, looks similar to the HL carb gaskets and diaphragms. If you have an old one laying around in your box of carbs, compare an HL gasket/diaphragm to the old HC gasket/diaphragm. Just a thought. Good luck. Lewis.

jCarb Parts.

Hi Ray. Any carb parts I've replaced on these old saws I usually keep around to reference to. I find that alot of the old Tillotson carb parts are interchangeable from one model to another. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing or working on an old HC carb, but if I needed parts for one I'd be sure to check and see if something I've saved might work in it. If it was close, there might be a chance it could be modified to work. I've saved old gaskets and diaphragms and soaked them in rubber cleaner and then fresh fuel mix to clean them up and sometimes it softens them a bit. I've managed to save buying carb parts by doing this. It sometimes works in a pinch, but if I have time or not in a hurry to get a saw going, I usually will get a kit. OK, everyone take care. Lewis.

Thanks everyone. Yes, the HL Diaphram does fit the HC... I just used a standard Tillotson RK114-HL kit. BTW, I emailed Tillotson, and the reply I got was "sorry, no idea".... Sure glad there are more helpfull guys out there!

Andy

McCulloch saw:

Hello Lakeside53. I'm glad you found a diaphragm to work. You may have to start the saw and see how it runs and maybe readjust the metering rod lever a bit depending on if she is running a bit too lean or rich. Let us know how she runs and maybe post a pic or two of the saw running. Hopefully the old girl will run just great and can be kept all original. Take care. Lewis Brander.
