He'll be back in a couple days. His youthful enthusiasm got the better of him...again.

Im not partial to the poster, in fact i dont even know him. Im just interested in his saw.

Give him some arboristsite special occasion work release to post the resolution to this project and then you can drop him back into solitary :wink2:

I'm back. Seems like I try to post some pretty good material every now and then, and the crap suddenly hits the fan. Meanwhile, others seem to get off on all kinds of crap. Should I start reporting posts that are more of spam than a good question or a helpful post? Maybe I will start doing that... it would be amazing how much cleaner threads would be.

Anyhow, to answer HK's call, it does run. I posted a video in the Mac thread. I'll repost it here... this is the night run. I should have a video of it in a piece of wood posted tomorrow.

I did some more minor fixes on it and figured out a little issue. There is a post in the Mac thread about that.

Yeah, I'm infamous and there are probably a few that would want nothing to do with me. Whatever. As for expectations, not everyone is up to mine, and I'm not up to everyone else's. That's just the way crap flies.

Wish I could've made it to Wisconsin. Then some others here would realize that I am not as "bad" as I seem. Rogue posts should be expected, I've seen it happen with others here. Some of which have actually been here longer than I, both on the forum and on the planet...

Something for everyone to print out and tape to the front door...

there will not be any warning shots.

You're complaining about site moderation. You posted something with the F bomb in it and you got a little vacation for your lack of judgement. It could have been a lot longer. Deal with it and quit whining.

That's my new user title... isn't it?

I certainly am.

I still think somebody is reporting my posts and trying to get me banned for life over mediocre crap... any idea who it is?

Kyle, why don't you put your energies into thinking about posting stuff that doesn't get you in trouble? This would certainly solve your problem. I don't know what you have been posting but you do - so rethink it and move on. Who wants to be known for posting "mediocre crap" anyway? Ron

Yep. Looks like he still hasn't learned. Kyle you need to stop worrying about everybody else and just keep yourself in line. Somehow I don't think there's anybody 'out to get you' that's reporting your posts. You draw enough attention to yourself on your own that such action isn't needed. Peterhead......

Yup...he very often contributes some really good stuff here. The only enemy he has is himself.

Ok, im not trying to be a smart alec here, but i tend to be a little vulgar in my day to day comversation and some of that comes through in my casual, not really excited posts.

And also, i wasnt aware that you couldnt cuss on here... And i cussed a little in the last thread i posted on.

I looked for a discussion forum rules list and couldnt find it, can somebody direct me to one so i dont end up being the next guy in dutch!

Sounds great in the video, im looking forward another with it cutting wood.

Also, i mentioned earlier that i didnt care about or recognize you, just your saw, but now that you're back i can say that i do recognize you and have enjoyed some of your posts so try to keep yourself out of trouble.

Also, im afraid to admit, that i didnt recognize you by your username, but by your sweet can in the avitar. :D

Seems like my eyes are never drawn to your username...

That sweet can in my avatar seems to be the trademark. Some completely overlook my username and look at the avatar, and remember that.

Which explains the one time I tried switching avatar pics and everyone got mad at me.

I try to stay out of trouble...

change your handle to sweet can. :hmm3grin2orange: wait that don't sound rite.:msp_biggrin:

Here it is cutting some seasoned maple. That stuff has been sitting for 2 years. Hardened up a little bit. Not much though.

24" hardnose bar, .404" full chisel full comp chain, and an 8 pin rim. The 7 pin clutch drum will be installed when I get a 36" bar for it.

Notice that it seems to be cutting a little slow. I still have a little tweaking to do to the throttle stop to get it to run exactly where it needs to. When it's in the sweet spot where the butterfly stops at exactly WOT, it absolutely rips.

Otherwise, the trigger lets the butterfly go a little past WOT, and incoming air grabs it and flips it forward, which chokes it down. Also, the chain is a used one, and it could use some clean up in the gullets as they are excessively long. You'll see me tuning it a little, that's because I just had filled her up with a new batch of mix.

The video was supposed to be longer, but the camera decided to stop recording for some reason. :blob2: In any case, I knew I needed to get a video up or else a bunch of extra evil mini macs might show up at my doorstep.

Here's pile of chips from the first testing, which is the session that I figured out that a throttle stop is necessary.

And here is the pile of chips with some noodles from the second testing, which you see the first bit of it in the video. I'm gonna have to figure out why the camera stopped recording...

Kyle, Nice to see the saw running in some wood.
But it ain't running the way it should . That saw should
rev and pull hard. Just a bit of advise. Ditch the Flatty
and install a Tilly. You will never look back. The saw
will love you.

If I understand correctly, ditch the flat top air filter and cover and replace it with the k&n set up? Also, the spec sheet calls out for a 12500 max rpm. Is that accurate or should it be a little higher or lower? I'm trying to gain as much info on the 655 as I can, thanks guys

Problem then is that I won't have a Tilly to put on the S44A. The original carb for the S44A has seized choke and throttle rods, they don't rotate at all. I don't feel like spending 28 bucks on a Tilly that might need a kit. Plus, I'd be ditching a 30 buck flatback carb kit... I don't like 'wasting' stuff like that. I've already got a ton of money into this saw and don't feel that comfortable putting much more into it other than a bigger bar and chain once it's squared away.

I did put new o-rings on the adjustment screws and on the primer sealing locations like Mark H. recommended doing so in his Mac carb thread. The primer feature is so nice, it'll fire up first pull every time, cold. Push that primer 2-3 times and pull the cord.

It does rev and pull hard when that throttle is where it needs to be. It's just touchy on the throttle being exactly wide open. Otherwise, it seems to holds tune and everything. Might need to revise the throttle stop design to get everything working right. If the camera had kept rolling, you would've seen some glimpses of it's true power when the throttle is wide open.

I have no doubt that a Tilly would be better, however...

Another part of the problem is that the Tilly I have is an 87HL, and removing the air filter hold down stud will let fuel out of the top of the carb. It will literally squirt fuel out of the hole in the bottom of the threaded stud mounting hole. IIRC, this is one of the reasons why a 63 is preferred.

Ugh, my post is actually giving me a headache...

It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I should have plenty of time to get this throttle situation sorted out, and get the old 14SB together. Yeah, I found that little part I needed. Apparently there is a dealer that has 17 left in stock. Bought two at about 80 cents a piece. Cheapest JD part I've ever bought...
