I have a mcculloch chainsaw with 16 inch bar 52 links chain but can't find a replacement chain the only chain I can find is 16 inch bar 56 links would this be compatible with my chainsaw

To find a matching chain, you have to check three features: Pitch, gauge, and number of drive links. All of the information is probably etched or printed on your bar. I would expect 3/8" low profile, 0.50"/1.3mm and 56 dl for a 16" bar. 52 dl is typical for 14" bars at 3/8" pitch.

That's the problem I can't find one with 52 drive links I've counted the drive links and there's definitely 52 and my bar is definitely 16 inches I have bought 4 chain's in the past from B&Q as That's where I bought the chainsaw from my question is would a 56 chain link with the same pitch, gauge bar length fit my chainsaw thanks for your comments

The make and model of the saw is the first info needed, then on the bar is usually etched the bar part number plus pitch and no. of drivelinks (DL) If you have and have used 52DL before then 56DL will be too long. If you've used 52DL 3/8LP before, then just find this chain, ignore 16"!
