Hi everyone. My dad recently gave me his old Mac chainsaw. It's about 35-years-old but runs and works well as a bucking saw.

My question is this. To the right of the throttle trigger is the choke push- button. The owners manual states to move the button to the closed position when starting. Does this mean button out, or pushed all the way in? Also, the saw will only run with the choke button pushed in. It won't idle as I have to keep giving it gas to keep it going. Other than that, it runs great.

I am not a mechanic so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes a 10 series Mac for sure and fitted with a bow bar, the choke is pulled out to engage it and pushed in once the saw fires, maybe the saw needs a good service if it's been sitting a while if it won't continue to run after the choke is pushed in after starting.
