Measuring Piston Bore - Please Help

Hello all,

Recently someone mentioned that you can measure the bore of a piston by simply taking the muffler off.

Is this possible, or is the only way to measure the bore is to take the cylinder off?

Is this possible, or is the only way to measure the bore is to take the cylinder off?

Plastic straw in the exhaust port. Cycle the piston up just enough to leave an impression. Measure. It won’t be exact but will usually be close enough
