Hi All!
As frequently in the work you detecten decay inside a trunk of a tree. What methods You use? IML-RESI, Shigometry, Core-Borer, ...... ,???

Hit the wood with a rubber mallet and listen to the sound.

I use the thumper method mike mentions, I have used a narrow drill bit on a few trees I wanted to get an idea as to how much meat there was left.
