do you think the micro mouse pulley would work with the flat bridge i have on my petzle sequoia? its for rope bridges but i have the flat web bridge.

I could be wrong but I dont think most of them are rated for life saving standards

well the tensile strength is 7,000lbs. and the wll is 700lbs. im pretty sure im not going to break but im concerned i may weaken the pulley with the flat bridge instead of the rope bridge. is that possible?

Why use a pulley at all on a sequoia bridge? I can visualise how it is to be used but not why you would bother. The steel krab I use slides just fine. If you do use a micro pulley does that mean you don't climb split tail or if you do that you would use a second pulley?

the micro mouse pulley has two eyes on it, one for my line and one for my split-tail. i figured it would glide better than just have the 2 biners connected to the bridge. i also use a micro pulley to advance my tautline.

ooooooowwww get rid of that tautline man come on its the 21st century.

Well this is from wesspur catalog for the cmi double pulley

Ideal for arborist rigging where two independent tie-ins are required. Also great for use as a
floating dee! Purple Anodized Aluminum side plates, 1 1/4” aluminum sheave, bushing, and
stainless steel axle. 7,000 lb. breaking strength and 700 lb. safe working load.

ok ok lmfao what then the blake. i was loyal to the tautline because it was what i learned on but im starting to realize how it does roll out to my figure eight. the blakes hitch is bad for descending i thought.

I don't see any reason why it would be unsafe, just watch for wear on both your bridge and the pulley... that flat bridge might rub on the sheaves of the pulley. I've used one on my rope bridge, but I didn't like it too much. Felt like it was rolling a little too easily, every little movement you make rolls you one way or the other.

And yes, like SoM said, ditch that tautline!

blakes is fine for descending, or buy a eye2eye split tail and try something like the distel.

i can definately see it rolling you maybe a little too easy but isnt that better than struggling to turn? i may have it all wrong. i think my bridge might rub on the sheaves, i think im gonna scratch this idea.

Just put a ring on the bridge and be done with it. That pulley is meant to be used on rope, not flat slings.

If your Sequoia has the same bridge as mine (we do things different in downunderland) then it is a doubled webbing strap roughly 1/2" wide. It is likely to run out of the pulley when not loaded and slide back in when loaded so sheave wear is probable IMO. I think a steel karabiner is your best option for eliminating wear and allowing smooth movement. I have no problems with turning in any direction in my harness using that selfsame rig. Check out this vid and remember that every cut was made without spurs so bracing by foot and good lateral motion were vital. http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=118813

thank you, i think im going to ditch the idea because of the sheave wear, im not taking that risk. ill just use my 2 biners or buy the aluminum floating rings petzl makes for that bridge. guys i appreciate all the input!

For what it's worth it's not uncommon to use a micro pulley on a rope bridge. Here's on right out of Sherrill's catalog:

You could always cut that web bridge out and tie yourself a in a rope bridge if you wanted, that webbings gonna wear out eventually right?

i suppose you're right but ill wait until that time comes. i dont wanna modify my saddle until i have too and even then i think i might just buy a replacement bridge for it. im not sure why they would mak it with a web bridge. doesn't even conform to a biner the right way. wait, i bet its because of the money, they just want you to buy to floating aluminum rings they make specially for this saddle.
