Converting a minimill to a conventional alaskan to run a larger chainsaw would not be worth doing.
By the time you bought the parts you'd be better off mechanically and financially to just buy an alaskan.

If you just want to get started there is always this.

minimill???

hi bobl maybe i got it wrong im sure it said minimill may be my eyes are painted on ok to explain better the mill is same as ive seen on ur threads bu t only has 1 adjuster/clamp at power head end nothing on bar nose end ive used this with smaller tanaka on small logs just to see how it all works(milling) now i have much bigger saws i want to extend the mill to a 2 post like the bigger alaskan mills sorry for confusion

mill alloy

bobl origanaly i tried to buy alloy same as u used to build bil but was told they havnt done a run of this for years if i wanted it id have to buy min 100 lengths so i thought about plan b which is my 1st post while i try to find something else suitable that i can easily get unistrut ??

Capral Aluminium have some very nice extrusions suitable for CSMs.
Unfortunately minimum buy is 20ft/6m lengths.
I use one called Heavy Duty Unistrut but that may be a bit to HD for you.

The stuff I used cost $90+ for 20 ft

Since then I found they also make something called Roadside C-CHannel - its' 28.5 x 25.5.
Recently I discovered these are used on the back of "One Way" and "Keep Left" signs here in Western Australia. The length of the One Way sign braces would be about right for a short mill.:hmm3grin2orange:

I have their catalog, PM me your email if you want it. Anyone else can if they want it
