Milled some pine today

The wood does have some streaking, and a couple of holes from pine borers, but it was only my second attempt at milling and these made for good practice logs. I gotta admit, it is a bit of work but I was having more fun than simply feeling like it was work! This milling thing is starting to grow on me. There are two more pine logs left, one is 15' long and about 14", and the other is 19' long and 23" at the widest. I'm not sure what lengths to cut them into. Any thoughts?

looks good not too bad looking, what kind of mill are you using, how is milliing the pine with it, you getting any sap or is it pretty clean, if your getting any pitch/sap might wanna try an auxillary oiler with a pine sol water mix, it'll help keep your chain bar cooler and less pitch /sap collecting on your bar/ saw/ clutch, etc. still cool though thanks for sharing:clap:

Nice color!
I'd cut the 15' one as is; the other one I'd have to see before I'd venture a guess on it. Depends on the taper.

I'm using a stihl 051 with a 36" bar on an alaskan mill. The logs have been down for two summers and are pretty clean. The 19' tapers down from 23" down to about 19", and the 15' is from a different tree that tapers down to 11-12". I haven't taken a tape measure to either one, but they are pretty close. I don't have any plans for any of the wood yet, just more of an opportunity to get some experience with milling. I do some woodworking but I have a bunch of hardwood lumber to use in the shed, so this pine will probably sit for a while.
