For those of you that use progressive rakers, is there a way to check for it without using a file-o-plate. Is there some type of system I could use to get them down correctly, like if the tooth is this long the raker should be this much lower.

Awesome I will check out those links. I have two of those DAF already from my woodworking so now I have one for another use. I have one set of calipers, again for my woodworking, but its not digital and its in inches, I believe broken down into 64ths, but I would have to check.

Its this one.

One question I do have, the angle that you show with the DAF (around 6°) is supposed to be the same throughout all the sharpenings, correct? So if I sharpen the teeth, then put the DAF on it I can take the raker down to get the angle, then repeat for each raker, correct? Just trying to make sure I understand the progressive deal.

BobL,

Upon reading the entire thread, I believe my above statement is correct, but what is the mark on the bar for, what are you lining up at that mark?
