Ok, whats it gonna be......

I need a small linbing saw. I have several mini macs & also several S-25's & the sears look alikes.

Most of them are near new, just needing the usual TLC: carb kits, fuel lines etc.....

Ive got to get one going & I cant decide.......

I know most of you will tell me to use them for target pratice, but they will do just fine for me.

The poulan S25 is the one I'd go for.
the Mac is a harder one to work on, so send em to me lol.

The mini mac is too small. The handles are too close together, and it just feels dangerous. Here is a picture of a minimac I just fixed up. I got it about 6 yrs ago. The crank threads were broke off on the clutch side. I took the chain off, and pulled the plug, and my 4 yr old son played with it for 4 years. He wanted to get it running this year, so we put in a new crank, and replaced all the outer cases with new old stock, new tank, new carb, new flywheel, new bearings. I didn't have a piston, so we tried it with the old one, it has good power. The oiling rod sticks in the new tank, so I can only make a few cuts before oiling with a bottle. That's OK, I don't like to cut with it. Your hands are too close together, and you would have no leverage if it kicked-back. My son only runs it with the chain removed. He will not cut wood with a chainsaw until at least 16.

The S-25.I've had mine since about '75,the only new saw I ever bought. The little rascals have about the power of a Stihl 020,and handle pretty fair in a tree. They are pretty good old saws although not as easy to handle as an 020.Although I like most McCulloch s that series of Mac is not too good .

Of the 2 I vote with the poulan also, cut like crazy, hard to kill, easy to work on, and they will actually restart after they are run hot, unlike the Mac which needs a 2 hour nap in between tankfulls. :)
