Nice! My arborist buddy actually just told me he was thinking of getting a 500i for himself as a Christmas present, maybe with a 32" bar. It seems like a fairly amazing power/weight saw. Glad you love it. Think the Makita 7901 is the only other saw that matches it in that class. Going to upgrade my Makita 6421 one of these days to the 79cc P&C so it becomes one of them.

I ended up just pulling the trigger on a 500i and all they had was a 28" so I just went with it. After one day of cutting, I am in love. the 28 inch bar is amazing for bucking (which I knew it would be, but also cutting all those little 1-4" saplings and such. After a tank of gas my back and my arms felt great. Also, I love how this saw feels alive, it zips around like a normal saw but when you bury it and put a load you can feel it adjust and just start to eat. It was expensive but like all quality tools, buy once cry once and after 4 hours I have no regrets or fears of it being "too big" .

Cheers, thanks for the input!

Very nice. One other thing you mentioned early about the storm blowdown; learn to use the box cut when you are unsure about all the entanglements. Really can help reduce surprise bindings.
