It's a good thing I only got this saw out of the box once. I had forgotten how beautiful this saw was. I was just in awe of it. I thought to myself, "you will never hold another 242 in this condition again" It was a very surreal moment for me. To think that this saw was manufactured in 1991 and it doesnt have a single blimish... it's just unfathomable. And then I got to thinking how iconic the 242xp is along with the 254xp, 262xp, and 288xp. I mean this saw is 23 years old and in it's class there has never been a saw produced since that holds a candle to it. Even the current renderings of the 241cm and 543xp are completely encompassed in the shadows of the 242xp.

Im not a fan of this size saw probably due to my age and stature, I prefer 70 to 90cc saws. But holding the 242xp I can appreciate it's design and the footprint it has made as a legendary model. I dont mean to sound all sappy guys, but I truly do have an attachment to chainsaws. I am a power tool guy, but they are just tools. The chainsaws though mean a lot to me, I mean they are sentimental posessions of great value to me. I cant explain it, hearing it a person either understands and can relate or they dont.

Sorry for the spill guys, I just wanted to give this saw the "send off" it has earned.
Wow!!.....that was deep[emoji15]
