This is what I started with. I got the splitter from a guy that wanted to get into the firewood business but found the splitter to be to slow when running off his tractors hydraulics. The splitter is said to only have about 30 min of use. It has been sitting in a barn for the past two years.

I will be switching from using the tractor hydraulics to a 21 gpm single stage pump powered by the rear PTO. I added a Williams Machine and Tool under body hydraulic tank. The nice part about this tank is that it came with a valve so I can add a log lift later.

I'm having trouble deciding how to connect the pump. Do I connect it with regular hydraulic fittings or should I use quick disconnects?

If I go with quick disconnects will I notice a reduction in flow?

Where can I find 3/4 and 1" couplers?

Just a suggestion

Hook the pump in hard wired.. No connections.. cause if the outlet coupling ever gets pulled off while pumping you will explode your pump.

I thought about that but if I was planning on using no drip skid steer type couplers, unfortunately they add about $200 to the cost of my splitter. My only worry about connecting to the pump without using couplers is kinking the return line and prematurely wearing it out.
