hey all,
is there anything that has to be taken into consideration when modding a saw/jug with decompression valve

cheers, serg

decomp valve

OK, since we're on the subject of decomp valves. My 460's decomp valve pops up EVERY time you pull it. My 440 does not do this. I don't use them that often though, but it's a PITA. I was going to replace the valve, but I figured I would ask before I waste money on it. Any of you guy's had any probs with yours?:( :greenchainsaw:  :)

Lake do you know where to get a plug for an 066 I never use the decomp.

hmmm, how to ask for a decomp valve without asking for one and having my post banished to the siberia of the wanted page since it's so on topic right here. i guess i'll have to add some content... :biggrinbounce2:

So, are you a body builder in your spare time or do you have an elasto-arm? It hurts when i forget to push the valve on my 046. My 066 just arrived and it doesn't have a decomp. Bugger that... but I need to start a new thread for that saw.... :bang:

If your modifications to an 066 involve raising the compresssion you would definitely get to liking the decompressor; they'd like to suck you right back into the recoil housing. They Suck

huh?

nope... and I see a lot of them. check the bleed hole for blockage first.

Ok, when you said "I see a lot of them" did you mean that you see the problem a lot or what? I will check the bleed hole. Thanks. ;) :D :biggrinbounce2:  :rockn:

Try pulling over a Mac 125,even in stock form without the use of the decomp.Ouch.

No I'm not a body builder. Just doesn't't seem that hard to pull to me. I am actually not that strong for my size. Stating just seems simple to flip the control lever and go.

I sometimes start mine without the decomp. Depends on how tired I am in the morning!LOL:clap:  :hmm3grin2orange: :greenchainsaw:

So, you're saying, "I'm a 100 pound weakling but I don't need no stinking decomp." :hmm3grin2orange:

It's not so bad when you stage the piston properly but when it bites. It bites...

hmmm... I'll get some 064s on cold frosty mornings for superman to pull over...

I don't normally bother with decomp either (except 064 and 088) once warm... but I do have Elastostart.

Yup. Wish I had a decomp on my 064. I don't have any trouble starting it, but you better make sure you're up against the compression stroke when you pull the rope. A decomp would sure save wear and tear on me (AND the saw!) I forget I've got a decomp on the 084 sometimes. OUCH!

When I first got my 2100 Homie the decomp was non functional. Some west coast superman had nearly destroyed the starter housing from jerking on the rope.
Needless to say repairing the decomp was one of the first things I did when I restored the big saw.

Yeah, I've got a decomp on my 260, 361 and 046. But not on my 066 or my 011. I'm always reaching to press it too. I've got a few spare cylinders for that one - maybe have to mod one... :ices_rofl:

Sometimes, the 011 kicks hard too. *&^*&^%*#& little bugger! :)
