As mentioned in Dans thread it was a great day milling for the time we had. Unfortunately, family matters and the weather cut my time short at the beach. While we were there though Dan tackled the slabbing and we found two box elder logs, on the short side and they had a bit of rot in parts of them. They didnt look good for slabbing so we decided to chunk them up for turning friends. We ended up with 36 good sized blanks, most of them in the 4-5 inch thick range. We also got one interesting 10"x10"x4' chunk of spalted birch that is solid. That will be saved for resawing at home. It was a grand day especially with the wonderful fruity smells from the sawing that Dan was doing.

Pete had a little box elder shop set up right there beside the path, hoping someone would come along and buy a piece or two and pay for our gas money!
