:greenchainsaw: Barred owls, the et' all the spotted owls in the old cottonwood. Close the park and don't let anyone on the surrounding 4 townships..Make everyone in a 1 mile radius leave until the small ones leave the nest. Rules they made and the rest of us have to live with. I don't mind the rules just the unjust application of them.

"Older Growth" cottonwood? Pfft. I bet it's 50 years old.

That would be a good term to use on a Dog and Pony show in the woods. The 'ologists use the term legacy old growth snag, which I pointed out, was redundant, and got several "looks" and they droned on. I was on their Ignore List in their brains.

Yup. That ain't old growth, that be older growth.

Most, or now all of the breeding pairs of Northern Spotted Owls on the Olympic Peninsula are gone.......moved, dead, whatever, the barred owl is in, and ecosystems are DYNAMIC. The first thing you learn in basic bonehead biology....but something enviros and PhDs forget when T&E spieces are concerned. Don't worry folks, we have the Marbled Murrelet to protect...and eagles, bull trout, mud minnows, unstable slopes, wetlands, archealogical sites, etc etc......25% of my tree farm is in state mandated buffer of some form or another...
