More rope puller/rigging questions....

I now have a snatch block to double the line back and increase capacity. My question revolves around the end of the rope connector. Now the rope puller has a capacity of 3/4 ton but in reality I've read it's closer to 1000 pounds. If that is true. If I'm doubling the line by using a snatch block then the working load would be 500 pounds at each termination point on the puller's side but a 1000 pounds at the object to be pulled side.

ATsawyer suggested using a steel biner (which would have a WWL of 500-600 pounds). Rope snap hooks have a similar capacity. Which would you choose to use?

I'll be using a 3/4" screw pin shackle at the snatch block end which has a 4T+ WWL so I know I'm safe at that point.

Cutting to the chase - biner, rope snap hook, screw pin shackle or safety hook. Which would you use......

Not sure of the scenario you are speaking of here but I usually tie off with a running bowline at the top of the tree to be pulled over and set up my MA on the anchor tree on the ground. I will sometimes use a micro pulley, prussic cord or even use a butterfly knot depending on the situation. I pretty much set up a Z line. The only time I will use a snatch block is when I need to do a redirect.

What about the unrated shackles on Bailey's site? Would you trust the 5/8" or 1/2" shackles for a non-MA pull line?
