yes. If you get the version with the decomp valve, you'll need a different top shroud, or, a cyinder plug. Might be a jet change in the carb... I can check for you if you get that far.

Bailey's can get piston and jug kits for the 390 for a little over $200. I don't know if this was for Stihl or after market parts.

That's the Stihl list price.. Bailey's shouldn't be selling Stihl mail order anyhow. Buy from your local dealer...

Last week you had a partial success. You only got a half score, at best.
Hey, that rhymes:biggrinbounce2: :biggrinbounce2:

some of us have dealers that SUCK! i buy alot from baileys, why? im not about to travel 40 miles to go to a better dealer. i can get a part within a week from baileys usually, last time i ordered something at my local dealer it took 3 weeks.. my local dealer is the main reason i started my own business.. they cant even figure out how to fix a saw with leaky crank seals (years back i tried to get them to fix an 084 i had, and a husky 181) both came back to me with nothing done. i have had many locals tell me the same problems, they just dont care about fixing saws. as far as im concerned my local dealer can fart off and die. i will continue to seek other sources.

So what part numbers ? my stihl dealer is very dumb so thats y i ask you guys this stuff... Or should I just ask for a 390 top end? any ways thanks guys and happy turkey day,
Jack

you should always have your dealer figure out the part numbers, even if it's "with" you. This way it's his responsibility if the wrong stuff turns up!

1127 020 1213 - this is the version without the deco valve. If you are going to do this job, get yourself an IPL and Service manual. I'm sure someone on AS has one...

Also order the ring clamp - It's $3 -$5 or so... but makes life a heck of a lot easier.. 1127 893 2602 . An "ordinary" ring compressor wont work for beans.

Andy are you talking about those plastic band clamps with the v notches on it???

Not much success

Ive got one. and of course I'm probably doing it all wrong,,, for me the notches seem to get in the way when you are installing the piston into the cylinder, especially on those engine pan motors where the 1/2 of the cranks bearing housings are made on to the cylinder base,,,,, whats the trick to it?????
