Just rebuilt a Stihl MS 390. Don't have a bar or chain for it yet. Was remembering an old reference (cannot find it now) that said I can put a 32" bar on it.... The manuals all say 25." Any thoughts?

32"=no

32" bar on a 390.........no. 24" would be about max on that saw. 20" would be ok.:)

It will pull a 20" all day long, day after day!! It doesn't complain much with the 24" really, just slows down some.

It runs a 28" just fine..

I don't think I would try that in hardwood for too long, but that's just me.

TWO? Just ONE dry Madrone will eat a 372, for a snack.:hmm3grin2orange:
oh that's right, we don't have any hardwoods in the PNW... :confused:

How about mountain mohogany? I hate fighting fires in eastern oregon because of those. Makes you think you're trying to put a face cut into a boulder.
