How’s the original cylinder? In the unlikely event it survived, it will save you a lot of money if you can clean it up.

If so, buy an oem piston to go inside it along with everything else oem.

If the cylinder is shot, you may be able to find a good used cylinder and stay the oem route.

Your budget allows for all OEM new parts apart from a cylinder.

I have used Meteor cylinder/pistons and Hyway cylinder/pistons. Meteor is the best aftermarket option in my opinion. Hyway wasn't bad, but quality seemed way higher with Meteor. If you can't go OEM, Don't hesitate on Meteor.

Pictures of the cyclinder little scratched up on intake side .

How would you clean it up Emory cloth ?
lots of utube stuff. My opinion here but stay away from acid. I used a 1/8" welding rod so one end would fit in a variable speed dremel, the other end I hammered it flat for about an inch then used a Dremel and cut off wheels to slit the flat spot so I could slip in the emory cloth. Most pros (and rich fellers) use a Foredom and a split mandrel. do some looking for videos it is worth your time. Try to concentrate on the build up areas, use a pick to determine if it is a gouge or High (aluminum transfer) build up as you clean up I have read to use a coarser grit from the start and keep tearing off a bit of emory cloth that is used up to get a fresh bite. Usually use 2 or so inches until it is gone and go again about 3/4" wide strips..

Red scotchbrite is what I use, I'd clean up the jug, buy a new Meteor piston, buy a generic 6202 C3 bearing for the fw side, oem Stihl bearing for the clutch side, buy the complete oem Stihl gasket kit, and that should cover most of it. Everything I listed should run you ~$150, if you really wanted a new oem p/c you could probably sell your used jug on here, buy a new kit, and still be under $500 when it's all said and done.

Any recommendations on a rebuild kit seams like there is a lot of off brand .
OEM or nothin, the chinesium kits are hit and miss, and frankly not worth the effort. think a fresh OEM kit will run ya about $400, and it will work guaranteed.
the rest maybe they'll work, maybe they won't, but you won't have a leg to stand on if they don't.

I bought Meteor cylinder/piston kit , new crank case support flange , stihl seal kit , new wrist pin bearing , the crank bearings I bought are hyway I hope they will be alright.bought a kit to replace all rubbers/oil seal, new oiler.
